He released a collaborative album with Leon Russell called ‘The Union’ in 2010, and Aussie dance duo Pnau had a ball with his back catalogue on last year’s mesmerising remix LP ‘Good Morning To The Night’, but this is the first proper album from Sir Elton Hercules John since 2006. That’s easily the longest gap in the productive piano-basher’s career: he sometimes released two albums a year during his ’70s imperial phase, a period when his hedonistic lifestyle might have been expected to dim his work ethic.

Euphonium – George BohanonOrgan – Larry GoldingsTrumpet – Darrell Leonard. What I can say is that I believe this album to cover the widest variety of sound that I've heard from Elton John. The music feels like it has a purpose and checks all the boxes, with emotional ballads and grooving numbers. It's very much the feeling a person gets when listening to a well-constructed concept album.

The Diving Board is the 31st studio album by British singer-songwriter Elton John. It is the second of his studio releases since 1979's Victim of Love without any of his regular band members. The album was released in the United Kingdom on 16 September 2013, and debuted at on the UK album chart, his highest charting. studio album in that country since 2001's Songs from the West Coast, and at on the Billboard 200. It is also his highest-charting solo album in the United States since Blue Moves in 1976.

Their latest release, The Diving Board, is easily the most exciting thing either has done in quite some time, because it?™s all about utilizing T. Bone Burnett?™s bare bones production to hearken back to the days when John was the maestro of piano-based compositions. Forget the theatrical swagger of The Lion King or the cutesiness of Gnomeo and Juliet. This is an adult endeavor rich with drama and sophisticated phrasing reminiscent of John?™s finest work of the 1970s.

The new Elton John album, The Diving Board, released on 13 September 2013. The album is produced by the Grammy-winning T Bone Burnett, written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin.

Following his forlorn 1978 album, A Single Man, Elton John recorded a slapdash disco mess, Victim of Love, that will perpetually occupy the lowest space on any rational ranking of his discography. After this, John began to find his way again with the uneven 21 at 33 in 1980. 21 at 33 featured a big hit, Little Jeannie, but The Fox is a much better album.
