Run-DMC - Live At Montreux 2001 album FLAC

Live at Montreux 2001 is the first live album released by seminal American hip-hop group Run–D. M Officially released on April 3, 2007 through Eagle Records, it was produced and mixed by Jam Master Jay. The concert was performed on July 21, 2001 in Montreux, a city in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. Musically, the album features bombastic takes on the group's catalog of greatest hits, with the performances filled with banter with the crowd and various call-and-response antics.

If you could pick any year from which you'd want to pull a Run-D. show, it wouldn't be 2001. The group's least interesting album (Crown Royal) had been released two years before, nothing had appeared since, and a year later it would all be over after DJ Jam Master Jay was senselessly murdered. It's surprising then that Live at Montreux 2001 is an exciting and generally satisfying release, filled with life, energy, and inspiration.

Run DMC were one of the true pioneers of rap music. Formed in the early eighties they had a string of hit singles and multi-platinum albums through the decade, which helped to define the sound of contemporary rap music. They also pioneered the crossover with rock and pop typified by their worldwide hit "Walk This Way", which they recorded with Aerosmith. This concert at Montreux in 2001 was one of the last they performed before the tragic death of Jam Master Jay in 2002. Run DMC were one of the true pioneers of rap music

Run DMC strike that notion down with a spot-on performance from which most rappers should take their concert cues. Whether they’re dishing out the call-and-response tactics for "Mary Mary,” barrelling through "It’s Like That” or finishing each other’s rhymes the way only they could do, live hip-hop gets no better than this. No doubt fans of the group will already have these songs but here, without the aid of studio wizardry, they remain raw and somehow closer to the original spirit of hip-hop. Any s fail to annoy as much as they do on most albums and if anything,.

Filmed live at Montreux in 2001, this concert was Run DMC's last performance before the untimely death of Jam Master Jay in 2002. The groundbreaking band helped define rap music, releasing numerous hit singles and albums starting in the 1980s and influencing a generation of musicians. Songs include "It's Like That," "Run's Freestyle," "Down with the King," "Got to Be Real," "It's Tricky," "King of Rock," "Walk This Way," "School of Old" and more.
